Women's Tennis Tops Memphis, 4-3

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Ball State University women's tennis team (5-3) notched a 4-3 road victory at the University of Memphis Friday afternoon. The win marks the second straight for the Cardinals.
BSU took the early lead winning the doubles point over Memphis. At No. 1 Haly Calderwood alongside teammate Jennifer Pollack captured a 8-1 win over Ekin Zafir and Lindsey Wiseman. The No. 2 doubles tandem Sophie Quist and Georgina Thomson sealed the doubles point with a 8-6 win over Marjorie Ondeck and Amanda Brown.
Muncie native Hayley Hall was the first to finish in singles winning at No. 5 after defeating Zafir, 6-1, 6-0. Quist would drop her match at No. 1 but Pollack would earn the No. 2 match for BSU with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Brown. Thomson then earned the fourth and final point for the Cardinals winning at No. 6 over Chamberlain, 6-2, 7-5.
Ball State women's tennis continues its two-match roadswing when it takes on Tennessee Tech in Memphis Saturday, March 1 at 3 p.m.
