Women's Tennis Captures Win Over Tennessee Tech

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Ball State University women's tennis team (6-3) captured a 4-3 victory over Tennessee Tech on Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals fell behind early after losing the doubles point to Tennessee Tech. The No. 3 doubles tandem of Emma Retter and Katherine Rist was the lone twosome to score a victory for Ball State after they defeated Katie Barnhill and Evegenia Yartseva, 8-4.
Ball State came back in singles play to take the match over Tennessee Tech. Hayley Hall was the first to win for BSU at No. 4, winning in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 over Barnhill. Jennifer Pollack dropped her match at the No. 2 position. Georgina Thomson collected a 6-1, 6-3 win over Yartseva. Haly Calderwood then took the No. 3 singles match over Diana Woodcock, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. Tennessee Tech then came back to tie the match up at 3-3 with the No. 1 singles victory. The deciding match came down to Retter who won in three sets to Kay Ngiam, 6-2, 6-7, 7-3, 6-4.
The Ball State University women's tennis team will host Butler Wednesday, March 5 at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
