Men's Golf Concludes New Mexico State Tournament

The Ball State University men's golf team, under the direction of 11th-year head coach Mike Fleck, finished in 17th place at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate hosted by New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M.
Ball State managed a 304-297-292=893, while New Mexico State won the event with an 861 team score.
Andrew Rhodes and Eric Steger were Ball State's top finishers and tied for 29th in the 90-person field. Rhodes managed a 79-74-65=218, while Steger carded a 72-73-73=218. Rhodes' 65 in the final round was the lowest round for any golfer in any round of the tournament. Brian Maurer managed a 77-75-76, Ross Cosat tallied a 76-75-78 and Anthony Novak recorded an 80-81-78.
Joining the Cardinals and host New Mexico State at the event were Akron and Miami University from the Mid-American Conference. Other teams in the 18-team tournament include Air Force, Cal Poly, Colorado, Denver, Idaho, Iowa State, Kansas State, Nebraska, Nevada, Northern Colorado, Utah, UTEP, Washington State and Weber State.
The tournament was played at the New Mexico State Golf Club on the Aggies' campus. The 7,074-yard course played to a par-71.
This event concluded Ball State's fall portion of the schedule. The Cardinals will begin their spring season March 15-17, at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate at Pinehurst Resort Course No. 8 in Pinehurst, N.C.
