Field Hockey Hosts Missouri State For Think Pink Weekend
October 17, 2008 | Field Hockey
MUNCIE, Ind. ? The Ball State field hockey team concludes the home portion of its regular season with a match-up against Missouri State noon Sunday at BSU Turf Field.
Ball State dropped a heartbreaking 3-2 overtime decision at Missouri State the first time the teams met this season.
The Bears took an early two-goal lead during the previous meeting, but it was Ellen Vonderbrink who scored her first career goal to put Ball State on the board in the second half. Brittany Hammer tied the game a minute later with her fifth season goal, sending it to overtime.
However, the Bears' leading scorer Melissa Lantz chipped in the game-winner during the extra minutes. Lantz has logged 14 goals and five assists this season. Missouri State is currently 6-8 overall and 1-5 in the MAC. They are set to play Miami Saturday.
