MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State softball team was defeated by Central Michigan 7-1.
Ball State falls to 20-31 overall with a 6-11 Mid-American Conference record. Central Michigan improved to 20-18 overall, 7-6 in conference.
The Chippewas took an early lead as Amy Hudson hit a double to left center field that allowed Suzie Giroux to score. Hudson was able to reach third base on the throw home and would eventually score on an infield hit putting CMU up 2-0.
Central Michigan increased their lead in the second inning as Katie Greenman recorded a double with the bases loaded. The hit sent all three runners home and gave the Chippewas 5-0 lead.
Greenman advanced to third on an infield hit and was able to score off a single from Hudson.
Ball State would get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning as Amber Wolf hit a double that allowed Elizabeth Milian to score. Wolf ended the game 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Christina Novak recorded a triple in the top of the sixth inning for CMU. A sacrifice fly by Stephanie Crews allowed Novak to tag up and score the final run of the game.
Elizabeth Milian fell to 12-17 on the year. Milian pitched all seven innings. The freshman gave up seven hits and five earned runs.
Ball State will get a rematch against Central Michigan April 29 at 1 p.m.
