
Redhawks Defeat Cardinals 4-2

The Ball State softball team dropped to 19-28 overall, 6-8 in the Mid-American Conference after being defeated by Miami University 4-2.
Taylor Yancey led the way for the Cardinals going 3-for-3 with two RBI and a stolen base.
Alisha Etzler and Kelli Jeziorski each got on base, and stole a base to get into scoring position in the bottom of the third inning. Yancey came to the plate and delivered a two RBI double that would put the Cardinals up 2-0.
The Redhawks took advantage of three Ball State errors in the fourth inning to get runners on base for Alexis Javier.
Javier came to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs and hit a three RBI double to left field. The double put the Redhawks up 4-2.
Elizabeth Milian took the mound for Ball State. Milian struck out three batters and did not allow any earned runs.
Miami used the combination of Meredith Linch and Shalise Lugo to defeat the Cards. Linch threw the first two innings of the game and gave up the two runs to BSU. Lugo recorded nine strikeouts in four innings to shut down the Ball State offense.
Ball State will return to action April 24 as they face the Butler Bulldogs in Indianapolis, Ind. at 4 p.m.
