
Cards Fall To Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Ball State softball team was defeated by Bowling Green 7-3. Ball State will face all other Mid-American Conference opponents at the BSU Softball Complex.
The Cardinals got on the scoreboard first with consecutive base hits from Taylor Yancey and Abby Gross. Elizabeth Milian came to the plate and hit a hard ground ball that got past Carly Riepenhoff to score both of the runners.
Bowling Green's Hayley Wiemer tied the game with a two-run home run into right center field. Wiemer was also on the mound for BGSU.
Wiemer threw a complete game and improved her record to 10-3. She struck out seven BSU batters and didn't walk a single batter.
A long fly ball to centerfield allowed Allie Pennock to tag up from third base and score the Cardinals final run. Gross ended the game 1-for-2 with one RBI and one run scored.
Milian got the loss for the Cardinals. Milian threw four innings and gave up six runs while striking out one. Amanda Pick came in to finish the game for Ball State. Pick stuck out two batters and gave up two hits in the final two innings of the game.
Ball State will return to action April 18 as they travel to South Bend, Ind. to face the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
