AKRON, Ohio -- The Ball State softball team's offense was on display Sunday afternoon as the Cardinals handed Akron a 7-1 defeat.
The win allowed the Cardinals to sweep the series with the Zips and even their Mid-American Conference record at 2-2. BSU improved to 11-19 overall.
A six-run third inning proved to be the difference in the 7-1 win Sunday afternoon at Lee Jackson Field.
Kelli Jeziorski popped a sacrifice fly to center field that plated the second run of the inning, before Taylor Yancey followed with an RBI double to right field and later scored on another double by Abby Gross. Kamilah Holle added another sac fly that pushed Elizabeth Milian across to score.

In the final game Sunday, Milian allowed just six hits with one strikeout and one walk to earn to the win.
On Saturday, the Zips got on the scoreboard first as Katrina Moffett singled to drive home Lisa McLean to give them the 1-0 lead. Akron had another opportunity in the fourth inning to increase their lead as they had runners on first and third base with one out.
Krista Hansen hit a ball back to Elizabeth Milian, who was on the mound for the Cardinals. Milian threw to first to get Hansen out. Alisha Etzler covered first base and saw Jacyln Spirtos trying to score, Etzler threw home just in time as the runner slid by home plate and was tagged out by Abby Gross.
Ball State's Allie Pennock started off the sixth inning with a single. Kelli Jeziorski provided a sacrifice bunt that allowed Pennock to move into scoring position. Taylor Yancey got to first on an error by the shortstop. Pennock and Yancey both stole a base while Gross was up, placing Pennock on third and Yancey on second.
Gross hit the ball hard back up the middle of the field. The ball deflected off of the pitchers glove and went to the second basemen who threw to first base for the out. Pennock was able to score off the hit, and Yancey advanced to third.
Milian came to the plate and delivered a double to left center that scored Yancey and put the Cardinals up 2-1. Amanda Pick's single to centerfield would be enough for Milian to score from second to increase the score to 3-1.
Milian got the win for the Cardinals, her seventh win of the season. Milian did not walk any Arkon batters, only gave up one run and struck out three batters.
