
Softball Falls To No.20 Southern Illinois

The Ball State Softball team lost to Southern Illinois 9-0 Saturday, to end the first day of the Kay Brechtelsbauer Southern Classic.
Sophomore Allie Pennock recorded the team's only hit in the fourth inning. Pennock went on to steal two bases, but was called out trying to steal home. Pennock's two stolen bases take Ball State's season total to 33.
The loss to Southern Illinois puts the Cardinals at 3-10 overall. The Salukis are now 13-3 and ranked 20th in the nation.
Cassidy Scoggins recorded eight strikeouts in five innings to lead Southern Illinois on the mound. At the plate the Salukis hit three home runs, and took the game over by scoring six runs in the fourth inning.
Ball State returns to action Sunday to play Western Illinois at 10:00 a.m. and Indiana at 2:00 p.m.
