Swimming & Diving Ends Season With Fifth Place Finish At MAC's

BUFFALO, NY - The Ball State University men's swimming and diving team ended its season with a fifth place finish at the 2007 Mid-American Conference Championship on Saturday night.
Kyle Hembree pulled in a seventh place finish in the 1650 free after clocking in a final time of 16:00.71 in the meets first event of the night.
Adam Konopka came in eighth place in the 200 back with a 1:54.22 final.
Ben Battjes captured a 12th place finish in the 100 free (46.96) while teammate Jacob Morris ended the event in 13th (47.10).
Ryan Franklin was just shy of finishing in the top eight after coming in ninth in the 200 breast (2:10.17). Griff Goas came in 12th in the event (2:12.24) and Jordan Rantz was 14th (2:13.17).
The Cardinals had three swimmers place in the top 16 in the 200 fly. Ian McIntosh got things started with a 1:56.69 final time which was good for 12th, Ben Karwoski followed in 13th place (1:57.91) and Tyler Dixon rounded out the group in 16th with a time of 2:10.12.
Zach Whitaker came in seventh place with a score of 240.35 in the 3-meter diving event.
Ball State ended the night with a fourth place finish in the 400 free relay. The quartet of Morris, Karwoski, Chris Steindorff and Battjes recorded a 3:09.04 final to beat host Buffalo.
