Men's Swimming & Diving In Fifth Place After First Day At MAC's

BUFFALO, NY - The Ball State University men's swimming and diving team ended its first day of action at the Mid-American Conference Championships which was hosted by the University of Buffalo on Thursday, Feb. 22.
The Cardinals started the evening off with a fourth place victory in the 200 free relay. The foursome of Jacob Morris, Chris Steindorff, Eric Gellinger and Ben Battjes clocked in a time of 1:25.22 to defeat Buffalo.
Kyle Hembree captured a ninth place finish in the 500 free with a time of 4:36.16. Battjes turned in a ninth place finish in the 50 free with a 21.28 final time.
Zach Whitaker scored a 265.10 which was good for seventh place in the 1-meter diving event. Ball State ended the night with a fifth place finish in the 400 medley relay.
The Cardinals continue their action at the MAC's on Friday, Feb. 23. The events for Friday will be the 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back and 800 free relay.
