Cardinals Prepare For Great Lakes Regionals
November 09, 2007 | Cross Country
The Ball State women's cross country team will travel to Bloomington, Ind., to compete in the 2007 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007 at the Indiana University Cross Country Course.
The men's 10k will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the women's 6k race which is scheduled to begin at 12:15 p.m. The cost of parking is $10 per car with free admission.
Public parking is off the 45/46 bypass, between the golf course and the University Gymnasium.
This year's regional meet marks the first one in Bloomington since 2005, and the second time Indiana has been the host. The race will feature some of the best teams in the nation including No.8 Michigan State, No.9 Michigan, and No.23 Wisconsin.
The top two tams at each regional championship meet will automatically qualify for the 2007 NCAA Championship meet, which is held on Nov. 19, at the LaVern Gibson Golf Course in Terre Haute, Ind.
Also from each regional meet, the first four student-athletes not on a qualifying team will be automatic qualifiers to the national meet. All individual automatic qualifiers must finish in the top 25 within their region.
Look for sophomore Ali Bishel to lead the way for the Cardinals. Bishel is coming off a second place finish at the Mid-American Championships, where she finished second clocking in at 17:38.
Official results will be posted on www.ballstatesports.com after the meet.
