Anthony Newell Sidelined With Foot Injury
November 21, 2007 | Men's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. ? Anthony Newell (Chicago, Ill./Simeon H.S.), a junior member of the Ball State men's basketball team, is out approximately six to eight weeks with an injury to his left foot.
The injury will not require surgery and Newell is expected to return to the court this season.
“We are extremely disappointed in this news, especially for Anthony,” said first-year BSU head coach Billy Taylor. “Obviously Anthony is very important to our team, both as a player and as a leader. We are saddened this injury occurred, but we know Anthony is a diligent and resilient young man who will be back on the court as soon as possible.”
Through two games this season, Newell was averaging a team-best 22.5 points per game. He scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds last week vs. Milwaukee.
