October 17, 2007 | Men's Golf
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. -- Andrew Rhodes fired rounds of 74-72-74, including getting his score to two-under at one point Monday, to lead the Ball State men's golf team to a sixth-place finish at the 2007 Belmont Fall Shootout.
As a team, the Cardinals posted team scores of 299, 290 and 294 at the 12-team tournament played at the Nashville Golf & Athletic Club, just minutes from the heart of Music City USA.
The Cardinals' team score of 294 Tuesday was the lowest of the day, allowing BSU to climb to sixth -- just two strokes from second place.
"We did a good job Tuesday," says BSU head coach Mike Fleck. "I wanted to see how our guys responded, and to go out and post the lowest team score in the field, was encouraging. We have the ability to post good scores relative to the field. We need everyone to become more consistent and continue to improve."
Mid-American Conference foe Akron won the 12-team event with a team score 871, while Cleveland State and Northern Illinois tied for second at 881.
Rhodes' three-round total of 220 tied for 16th overall.
