Men's Basketball To Have 13 MAC Games Televised In 2007
January 03, 2007 | Men's Basketball
As the Ball State men's basketball team opens its 2007 Mid-American Conference schedule Saturday vs. Toledo, the league office has announced its television package for the season.
Combined with five televised games from the league package and an additional eight games by the Ball State Sports Network, the Cardinals will have 13 of their 16 conference games televised in 2007. In addition, at least eight of those games will also be carried online through Ball State All-Access at www.ballstatesports.com.
"We are very excited to be able to provide fans of Ball State Basketball coverage of 13 league contests this season," says BSU Athletics Director Tom Collins. "We are very fortunate and lucky to have the Ball State Sports Network and WIPB on campus to provide quality productions of our events. The MAC package allows us to gain exposure in additional areas which is helpful to recruiting both students and student-athletes to Ball State University."
The 13-game television package tips Saturday as the Ball State Sports Network will televise the Cardinals' league opener with Toledo at 1 p.m. BSU's first Comcast game is slated for Jan. 13 vs. Eastern Michigan in Muncie, while the MAC Game of the Week on Fox Sports Net will take place Feb. 3 when the Cardinals visit Akron.
Planned clearances for the FSN game includes coverage to over 10 million homes on FSN Ohio, CSN Chicago, Comcast Local and Time Warner New York. The Ball State Sports Network will reach approximately six million homes through WIPB (Muncie), WNDY (Indianapolis), MY-TV (Fort Wayne), WHME (South Bend), WYIN (Merrillville), Indiana 9 (Jeffersonville) and HTV 19 (Noblesville). Comcast broadcasts reach nearly two million homes in the state of Michigan, Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and Muncie.
"Obviously we are very excited to continue our relationship with Ball State Athletics," says WIPB General Manager Alice Cheney. "The Ball State Sports Network has continued to grow over the years and with affiliate stations in Fort Wayne and Indianapolis, we can reach a large percentage of Ball State fans and alumni."
