ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Ball State field hockey team struggled Saturday to stop the high-powered offense of the nation's 14th-ranked team.
Ball State allowed Louisville to connect on half of its 18 shot attempts on the way to a 9-0 loss in a neutral site contest at Michigan's Ocker Field.
Ball State forward Lindsay Quay led all players in shots, taking five of the eight Ball State attempted as a team.
Jessica Javelet and Lisa Wasser led Louisville with two goals and two assists each. Casey Diener and Allison Maffitt each added a goal and an assist for Louisville.
Ball State attempted four shots on goal to Louisville's 13. Quay fired two of those shots on goal, and Jamie Kahn and Tara Reed each added one.
Ball State (1-6) continues its stretch of road matches next weekend. The Cardinals will play Friday at Ohio to open Mid-American Conference play before heading to Kent State for a Saturday match with the Golden Flashes.
