November 14, 2006 | Field Hockey
Ball State senior Lindsay Quay has been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-West Region Second Team, as announced Monday by the NFHCA.
Quay finished her senior season with 14 goals to lead Ball State and rank second in the Mid-American Conference. She was named the league's Player of the Year and was also honored as an All-MAC First Team selection for the third year in a row. Quay is one of five MAC players to be selected to the region's second team.
In addition to her 14 goals in 2006, Quay ranked first in the MAC with 106 shots, second in the conference with four game-winning goals and fourth in the league with 30 points. She recorded her second career hat trick Oct. 14 in Ball State's 4-2 victory over Kent State plus added an assist on the Cardinals' other goal.
Quay led Ball State to second place in the MAC standings and a runner-up finish in the conference tournament. The Cardinals won seven of their final 10 games to close the season at 8-12 (6-4 MAC). The six league wins were the most for a Ball State team since 1999.
With her 14 goals this season, Quay closed out her Ball State career sixth on the school's all-time goals scored list with 37. She started all 20 games for Ball State in 2006 and all 76 games the Cardinals played in her four-year career.
Quay will wrap up her collegiate career Saturday when she takes part in the NFHCA Division I Senior All-Star Game at the NCAA Field Hockey Championships on the campus of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.
