Swimming Swept at Eastern Michigan

Ypsilanti, Mich. - - The Ball State swimming and diving program suffered a pair of league losses Saturday afternoon, with both squads falling to Eastern Michigan at Jones Natatorium in Ypsilanti, Mich. The Ball State women's team (5-3; 3-2 Mid-American Conference) suffered a 140-103 setback to the host Eagles, while EMU topped the men's team (1-4; 1-2 MAC) by a score of 148-83.
Ball State would post the top time in five of 13 women's events, while earning first-place efforts in three events on the men's side.
The women's squad started the match strong, swimming to a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay, as Brittany Sayler, Lauren Harger, Stephanie Paul and Ashley VanOsdol combined for a time of 1:50.20.
Meghan Patterson would follow with a first-place swim in the 1650 freestyle, posting a time of 17:15.88. Eastern Michigan would win the next two events, before Mary Brinkoetter collected the meet's top time in the 400 IM with a clocking of 4:34.17.
Following an EMU victory on the three-meter diving board, Erika Paul would claim first in the 200 fly with a time of 2:07.48.
After claiming the top spot in four of the first seven events, the BSU women's team would only capture one more - - Sayler with a time of 2:05.24 in the 200 back - - in the final six events to seal the loss.
