Bannister and Kloeckener Named to Academic All-MAC Field Hockey Team

A goalkeeper, Bannister started all 16 of her games played for the Cardinals -- including nine straight to finish the season -- and totaled a 2.79 goals-against average with two shutouts and a personal-best 94 saves in 2005. She stopped a career-high 15 shots Oct. 1 at Central Michigan, breaking her previous best of 14 set Sept. 3, 2004 at Indiana. A four-year letterwinner, Bannister started 51 of her 53 career games played, notching 15 wins with a 2.32 GAA, 249 saves and 6.5 shutouts during 3,470 minutes in goal.
Bannister has accumulated a 3.525 grade-point average while double majoring in social work and sociology. A two-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Team honoree and MAC Academic Honor Roll selection, Bannister also received a 2004 MAC Commissioner's Award.
A forward, Kloeckener made her first career start August 27 versus William & Mary and went on to start 11 more, totaling four points while playing in all of BSU's 18 games. Her first career goal came Oct. 22 in a 6-0 shutout of eventual MAC Tournament Champion Central Michigan. Kloeckener added assists in back-to-back games against Northwestern and Louisville Sept. 16 & 17, respectively, to round out her scoring for the year. A two-year letterwinner, Kloeckener has played in 21 career games with one goal and two assists for four career points.
Kloeckener, a 2004 NFHCA National Academic Team honoree, tops the team with a perfect 4.000 GPA in exercise science.
Also named to the 15-member squad were Central Michigan's Kim Ferris and Alisa Folk, Kent State's Elizabeth Lahey, Kate Perry and Berber Rischen, Miami's Christine Lloyd, Missouri State's Kim Kinsella, Sarah Wozney, JoAnn Westman and Stephanie Wehrman, and Ohio's Jennifer Cote, Lauren Stahlhuth and Chelsea Mearig.
Student-athletes must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA and participate in at least 50 percent of their team's contests for the season to qualify for Academic All-MAC honors. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year at the school are not eligible for the award.
