The 2005 Mid-American Conference Field Hockey Championship tournament will take place Nov. 3-5 in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., on the campus of Central Michigan University.
Sixth-seeded Ball State University (4-13, 3-7 MAC) will square-off with third-seeded Miami University (8-11, 5-5 MAC) Thursday, Nov. 3 at 2:30 p.m. in first round action at the CMU Field Hockey Complex. The winner of the BSU/MU game will take on second-seeded Ohio Friday afternoon.
The Cardinals split the season series with the RedHawks, with each team notching a 1-0 decision at their home field. In their first meeting Oct. 7 in Muncie, Ball State earned the victory in overtime as Chantelle Isaac scored on a breakaway in the 78th minute with a crossing pass from Lauren Cruz, while goalkeeper Tracy Bannister earned her first shutout of the season. During their second meeting Oct. 23 in Oxford, Ohio, Miami's Danielle Perecone scored in the 26th minute for the eventual game-winner.
On the other half of the bracket, fourth-seeded Central Michigan will open the tournament with a noon game against fifth-seeded Missouri State on Thursday. The winner advances to play top-seeded Kent State Friday in the semifinals.
