As the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Championship Performance, Dr. Blom oversees Ball State Athletics’ championship performance unit of sports medicine, strength and conditioning, nutrition, and mental wellness with the goal of providing comprehensive, integrated care for our student-athletes health and well-being she also serves as the sports supervisor for women’s golf, women’s volleyball, softball and gymnastics programs and works with equipment services.
Dr. Blom joined the athletics department in August of 2023 after serving as the faculty athletics representative for six years, the school of kinesiology chairperson (2021-2023), and a professor of sport psychology. She joined Ball State as a faculty member in 2008. As a scholar, she investigates positive youth development through sport, co-authoring over 85 journal articles, book chapters, and a book, Survival Guide for Coaching Youth Soccer, and received over a million dollars in externally funded grants as the principal investigator or Co-PI. She is a Fellow of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology and served as the organization's president from 2021-2022. To accompany her educational training and research experience, she has 20 years of consulting experience as a certified mental performance consultant (CMPC), working with administrators, coaches, and athletes from the youth to college and elite level, leading team-building workshops, mental skills sessions, and coaching sessions. Additionally, Lindsey has 15 years of experience as a youth and high school soccer coach and is a hall of fame soccer player at her alma mater, with a career as a defender at Georgia Southern University from 1995-99.
Lindsey earned her doctoral degree in sport psychology and a master’s degree in counseling education at West Virginia University, along with a master’s degree in kinesiology and a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Georgia Southern University. She is married to Tim, and has a daughter, Makenzie, and a son, Spencer. She enjoys playing soccer and tennis, traveling, and spending time on the lake.
