Lyons in her first season at Ball State helped guide the Cardinals to their first-ever berth in the NCAA Championships after defeating Western Michigan 4-0 in the MAC Tournament championship match.
Ball State then went on to play their NCAA first-round match against No. 10 Michigan in Ann Arbor but fell to the Wolverines, 4-0. Despite the loss, the Cardinals put up a strong showing, highlighted by Toni Ormond taking a 6-3 second set from Alex Najarian at the No. 4 position. All six of the Cardinals’ singles players took games from each of their opponents.
Ball State also made history this season after Lysons helped coach the Cardinals to the program’s first MAC regular season title and the most wins, 22, in Ball State women’s tennis history.
Lyons earned her bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina in 2014. She lettered all four years in tennis for the Tar Heels.
At North Carolina, Lyons was a starter on the 2011 Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament Championship Team, the 2013 Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Indoor Championship Team and helped the Tar Heels finish as runner-ups at the 2014 NCAA Tournament. Lyons ended her career with a 101-47singles record and an 87-39 doubles mark. She also helped the Tar Heels to 104 victories during her four-year career, along with three ACC Championship titles.
Lyons has recently served as the Director of Junior Tennis at Maidstone Country Club located in East Hampton, New York while also working as a sales intern at Vox Media in New York City from 2014-15. She will be working towards a master's degree in journalism this fall at Ball State.
