2016-17 (Senior): Named First Team All-Mid-American Conference . . . Earned Academic All-MAC honors and was selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District At-Large Team . . . Finished the year with an overall singles record of 18-10 ane went 19-8 in doubles, including a 6-1 mark in league play alongside Peyton Gollhofer . . . Helped the Cardinals to their second straight MAC regular season title on April 21 with a 4-3 win over Akron . . . Blanco will continue her future with the Cardinals as the Ball State women's tennis graduate assistant next year, as she pursues a master's degree in accounting.
2015-16 (Junior): Named Second Team All-Mid-American Conference and to the All-MAC Tournament Team . . . Earned Most Valuable Player honors at the MAC Tournament . . . Received Intercollegiate Tennis Association individual honors . . . Posted the best overall mark on the team with a 26-12 record and a 6-2 MAC ledger . . . Played mainly at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles positions . . . Went 7-3 in her last 10 matches of the season . . . Longest win streak was 10 from Feb. 27 to April 3 . . . Registered a three set victory over No. 44 Purdue’s Deborah Suarez in non-conference action (Jan. 16) . . . Went 2-0 in MAC Tournament play, helping the Cardinals win the crown over Western Michigan and earn their first-ever berth in the NCAA Championships in the MAC Tournament championship match . . . Ball State also made history last season after earning their first MAC regular season title and the most wins, 22, in Ball State women’s tennis history.
Blanco transferred to Ball State from Alabama and will be a junior next season for the Cardinals. She attended Mater Salvatoris High School and is originally from Venezuela, where she was a member of the National Team from 2007-13. Blanco was also a member of the Fed Cup Team in 2013. She represented Venezuela at the South American Championships from the ages of 12 to 18, totaling 36 singles wins and only four losses. Blanco was ranked 127th in the International Tennis Federation Juniors and 901 in the world Women’s Tennis Association rankings in 2012. She won the singles title of Copa Mundo Maya at the International Tennis Federation Tournament in 2010.
At Alabama, she was ranked as high as No. 44 in doubles her freshman season. Blanco went 9-13 in singles and 12-11 in doubles from 2013-15. She was a member of the 2014 Southeastern Conference championship team and helped Alabama reach the NCAA championship quarterfinals.
Off the court, Blanco was an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete in 2013-14 and was a member of the 2014 Southeastern Conference First-Year Honor Roll.
The daughter of Pina and Carlos Blanco, Carmen plans to major in accounting at Ball State.
