Emma Kumar was promoted to Senior Associate Athletics Director for Revenue Generation for Ball State Athletics in July 2024. She is responsible for leading and executing the strategic direction and implementation of all initiatives around revenue generation for the department.
Kumar serves as the Senior Woman Administrator and sits on the Director of Athletics executive staff.
Since starting at Ball State in February 2021, Kumar has overseen all major giving initiatives for Ball State Athletics and has worked with the Ball State University Foundation team members and coaches to raise over $10m.
Kumar Joined Ball State after spending time at Tulane University where she focused on major gift and annual giving initiatives for the Green Wave. She played a pivotal role in securing funds during the $1.5 billion university-wide campaign, Only the Audacious. Additionally, Kumar focused on execution of two pivotal fundraising campaigns with the first being built around major giving during the COVID-19 pandemic and the second an annual giving campaign called Wave 100.
Through direct frontline fundraising and execution of key giving campaigns, Kumar raised more than $3m of additional revenue from entirely new donors and brought in thousands of annual supporters for the Green Wave.
Prior to joining Tulane, Kumar served as the director of development operations for a nonprofit organization in Minnesota, ACES (Athletes Committed to Educating Students). Her experience also includes working for the University of Minnesota in the Golden Gopher Fund.
Kumar earned her bachelor's degree in exercise science and biomedical studies from St. Olaf College, where she was a letterwinner in soccer and track & field. She resides in Muncie with her partner, Pranav.
