What does being a Cardinal mean to you?
“Being a cardinal means everything. The history of this storied program is one of a kind and being able to be a part of something that is bigger than myself is always a special feeling.”
Lukas is the son of Steve and Caroline Pytlak. Lukas has one sibling, brother Andrew. He is a business administration major.
Started playing volleyball: 7th grade
Favorite Volleyball memory: Starting my first collegiate volleyball match against the back-to-back National Champions in their home gym. Also, winning the MIVA championship to receive the #2 seed in the NCAA tournament
Favorite trip you’ve been on/what is one place you dream of visiting: Hawaii with the team. I dream of visiting France and England
Favorite food: Tacos
Dream job: CEO of a company
Plans after college: Play professional volleyball and then after that have a job in marketing or medical sales
What sport would you be playing if you were not playing volleyball: Soccer
2024: Played in 30-of-31 matches ... recorded 110 digs with an average of 1.03 digs per set ... tallied a single game career high of 13 total digs against Ohio State (Apr. 22)… earned Academic All-Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association honors.
2023: Played 102 sets for the Cardinals…recorded 94 digs …tallied a season high nine defensive digs versus Ohio State (4/22/23) in the MIVA Tournament title match… earned Academic All-Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association honors.
2022: Saw action against Quincy (2/25/22), Lewis (4/2/22) and Loyola Chicago (4/7/22) … helped the Cardinals win the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) regular season and tournament titles along with an automatic bye to the 2022 NCAA semifinal round… earned Academic All-Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association honors.
2021: Did not play ... earned Academic All-Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association honors.
HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year letterwinner in volleyball for coach Lesly Ravenscraft at Lake Zurich, Pytlak collected 212 kills, 36 aces, 56 blocks, and 192 digs in his junior season, he was named First-Time All-Conference and All Area Team as a junior, he finished his career with 515 kills, 77 aces, 122 blocks, 495 digs.
CLUB: Pytlak has played four seasons for Adversity Volleyball Club as team captain, he was named All-Tournament Team in the USA Division as a sophomore ... started playing volleyball in 7th grade…earned spot on the All-tournament team and finished runner up at USAV National Championship in 2018.
