TJ Carpenter, who played for the Cardinals for four years, rejoined the Ball State men's golf staff as an assistant coach in the spring of 2016.
Carpenter previously served as graduate assistant and volunteer assistant for the Cardinals. In 2012-13, his first year on staff, he helped guide Ball State to an appearance at the NCAA Nationals in Atlanta. It was the Cardinals' first trip to Nationals since 1986.
A native of Bourbon, Ind., Carpenter capped his playing career by earning Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America honors as a senior. He posted a tournament victory that season by tying for medalist honors at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational hosted by Air Force.
Carpenter completed his senior season with a career-best 75.20 stroke average and logged three of his seven career top-20 finishes.
As a standout at Triton High School in Indiana, Carpenter became the first golfer in the history of the Marshall County Championships to win three straight titles. He was a two-time sectional medalist who earned all-state honors and qualified for the Indiana state championships as a senior.
Carpenter completed his undergraduate studies at Ball State in 2012.
