Emma Hilton serves as an Assistant Coach for the Ball State University Field Hockey team, transitioning into the role after a storied five-year career as a student-athlete for the Cardinals.
She earned a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science with a minor in Coaching (2024) and a Master’s in Athletic Coaching Education: Sports Performance (2025), both from Ball State University.
During her career at Ball State she started 73 games as a defensive center midfielder, recording 8 goals and 17 assists. Hilton served as a team captain during her junior and senior seasons.
A five-time Academic All-MAC honoree, she also received the MAC Presidential Award and the NCAA Women’s Enhancement Scholarship.
Before her current appointment, she served as a Volunteer Assistant Coach and Graduate Assistant at Ball State. She also spent time as a Graduate Assistant coach for Ohio University Field Hockey during the 2025 season.
Off the field Hilton has inspired many with her community leadership as she co-founded The Next Play, a support group under the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) designed to help graduates transition out of collegiate sports.
