The Cardinals were a balanced and exciting offense in 2018 as 12 different players hit a home run, the most in the Mid-American Conference … Ball State also ranked second nationally with five walk-off victories this past spring … helped Jeff Riedel become one of just four MAC players to earn ABCA/Rawlings All-Region accolades in 2018 … a year prior in 2017, Ball State ranked first in batting average (.313), runs (183) and home runs (21) in MAC games … was in charge of the Ball State hitting attack that ranked first in the MAC in runs scored (378), doubles (123), triples (21) and walks (290) as well as second in batting average (.288) and home runs (49) in 2016 … mentored outfielder Alex Call on the way to 2016 MAC Player of the Year honors and Collegiate Baseball first team All-America accolades … helped Ball State reach the 2015 MAC Championship game and finish 33-25 overall … in 2014, helped the Cardinals to a 39-18 overall record, a 22-4 MAC mark, the conference regular-season championship, a MAC West Division crown and the No. 1 seed in the MAC Tournament … helped Ball State to a 31-24 overall record and a 15-12 MAC mark in 2013 -- his first season back at the helm of the Cardinals … the 31-24 record marked the eighth best turnaround in the NCAA from 2012 to 2013 … a former four-year letterwinner in baseball at Ball State … played under head coach Rich Maloney's guidance from 1999-2002 for the Cardinals … completed his playing career as the all-time leader in walks (139) … posted a career batting average of .321 … played in 224 games with 211 starts in career … recorded 246 hits, including 42 doubles, nine triples and 26 home runs in his career … helped guide the Cardinals to the 2006 Mid-American Conference Tournament Championship as a volunteer assistant, which earned Ball State a bid to the NCAA Regionals.
