A three-year captain for Ball State as a player, Blake Beemer returned to BSU after the 2018 season as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. The 2020 season is the seventh season in college coaching for Beemer, who previously coached at Eastern Illinois and Penn State.
Beemer helped the 2019 Cardinals to a 38-19 record (20-5 in conference play) and a second-place finish in both the regular season and league tournament. Four position players earned all-conference honors under Beemer's tutelage. Before coming back to Ball State, Beemer coached three seasons at Eastern Illinois, where the team had a prolific lineup. EIU ranked fourth in the NCAA with 83 home runs in 2017 and ranked in the top 50 in scoring offense. In 2016, the Panthers also ranked among the top 35 teams nationally in doubles. Two of Beemer's EIU players signed professional contracts. Beemer also coached outfielders and served as the first base coach at Penn State, where he helped the Nittany Lions increase their win totals each year.
Beemer was a four-time letterwinner from 2010-13 at BSU and three-year captain (2011-13. He scored 108 runs with 94 RBIs with a career .286 batting average as a Cardinal. Always involved and engaged around athletics and campus, he served two years on the SAAC Executive Committee as an undergrad and was one of 30 finalists for the 2013 Senior CLASS Award.
Beemer earned his bachelor’s degree from Ball State in 2013 and an MBA at BSU in 2014.
