Brittney Jones is in her first season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Ball State softball program. Prior to that, Jones was a two-year letterwinner for the Cardinals from 2007-08 and spent three seasons as a team manager from 2009-11.
As a sophomore in 2008, Jones played in 39 games with 15 starts. She tagged three hits in 10 at bats for a .300 average, while scoring three run, driving in a pair of RBI and stealing four bases.
As a freshman in 2007, Jones played in 53 games with 51 starts at centerfield. She scored 14 runs, stole 15 bases and held a fielding percentage of .965. She recorded her first collegiate hit in the second game of a double header at Toledo (April 13).
Coached by Deb Brown at Warren Township, Jones was a three-year letterwinner in softball in high school. She earned First-Team All-State, All-Area, All-Conference and All-County honors, in addition to collecting high school athlete of the year accolades. During her senior year, she hit .477 and snagged two home runs and 18 stolen bases.
The daughter of Tom Boddie and Lisa Jones, Brittney has one brother, John. She was born on March 22, 1988, in Waukegan, Illinois and is majoring in sports administration with a minor in marketing.
