CAREER NOTES ENTERING 2021 SEASON

• On Ball State’s Career Charts: T-15th in saves (1), 16th in lowest opponent batting average (.255), 19th in most strikeouts per 7 innings (4.07)
• On Ball State’s Single Season Charts: T-14th in combined shutouts (1 in both 2019 & 2020), T-20th in saves (1)
2020 (So.): The season was shortened to 27 games due to the COVID-19 global pandemic ... earned second letter at Ball State ... made 14 appearances in the circle, including four starts ... compiled a 4-2 record and a 3.39 ERA over 41.1 innings of work ... recorded 25 strikeouts, including a season-high five in her first win of the year versus Prairie View A&M (Feb. 8) ... pitched a season-long 6.1 innings to pick up her second victory of the season versus Green Bay (Feb. 22) ... followed by earning a relief win vs. Drexel (Feb. 28), throwing 2.2 innings and limiting the Dragons to just one hit ... picked up her fourth win of the season by holding Tulsa (March 7) scoreless in the ninth inning, successfully retiring three of the five batters she faced ... threw 1.0 scoreless innings of relief versus LIU (Feb. 29) to combine with freshman starter Deborah Jones for the shutout victory ... held opponents hitless in four of her 14 appearances, and scoreless in six outings.
2019 (Fr.): Earned first letter at Ball State … Second Team All-Mid-American Conference and MAC All-Freshman Team selection ... Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American Scholar Athlete … made 23 appearances in the circle, earning 11 starts … lead the team’s starting pitchers with a 2.56 ERA, including a team-low 1.67 ERA in MAC play … went 6-3 on the year, including a 2-1 mark in MAC play … struck out 50 batters over 87.2 innings of work … her first career victory was a complete game shutout win in the second game of a doubleheader at Bethune-Cookman (March 6) … she allowed just four hits and one walk in the game, while striking out seven batters … threw 6.0 innings of shutout softball in her next outing versus Presbyterian (March 9), allowing just five baserunners while striking out five, to combine with closer Alyssa Rothwell for a 3-0 shutout victory … stuck out a career-best eight batters in her first collegiate start versus Quinnipiac (Feb. 17) … made her collegiate debut in the season-opener versus LIU Brooklyn (Feb. 8), throwing the final 2.0 innings in the 7-4 victory … pitched the final 3.0 innings versus South Dakota (March 15), allowing just one hit to earn her first career save … earned her first MAC victory by throwing the final 6.0 innings in Ball State’s come-from-behind 7-5 victory at Western Michigan (April 12), allowing just six hits and one earned run … credited with her second victory of the weekend the next day, throwing 5.2 innings in a 5-4 victory over the Broncos in the second game of an April 13 doubleheader … allowed eight hits and three runs, only one of which was earned, while striking out a pair of batters … struck out at least one batter in 19 of her 23 appearances, with five-or-more on four occasions.
HIGH SCHOOL: Earned four letters in softball at Mascoutah High School for coach Frank Evans … named first team All-Mississippi Valley Conference in each of her final three seasons … team captain and Team Offensive Award winner the past three seasons ... compiled an 18-4 record and a 1.39 ERA in the circle as a senior, striking out 247 batters and producing a 0.95 WHIP ... was also named to Second Team All-Metro Saint Louis after adding a .405 batting average her senior season … team MVP as a junior … made 22 appearances in the circle as a junior, compiling a 13-9 record, a 2.00 ERA and 120 strikeouts … also batted .378 as a junior with five home runs, three triples, seven doubles, 22 RBI and 26 runs scored … went 10-4 in the circle as a sophomore with a 1.77 ERA and 52 strikeouts … also batted .382 as a sophomore with eight home runs, 16 RBI and 22 runs scored … was 2-3 in the circle as a freshman, with 46 strikeouts and a 2.47 ERA in 13 appearances … also batted .304 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored as a freshman … in addition to softball, she was a two-year letterwinner in basketball and a four-year letterwinner in volleyball for Mascoutah … named first team all-conference and all-state in volleyball as a junior, after garnering honorable mention all-conference as a sophomore.
CLUB: Has played eight years of club softball for the Southern Illinois Dirt Dawgs … helped guide the Dirt Dawgs to a second-place finish in ASA Northern National Tournament, a Top 10 effort at the USFA World Series in Panama City Beach and a first-place showing at the USSSA Summer Exposure and Showcase in Gulf Shores.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Jeffrey and Michelle Morio ... her mother played volleyball at SIU-Edwardsville and her father played tennis at Belmont Abbey College ... full name is Tieghan Marie Morio ... maintains a 3.88 grade point average as a sport administration major.
WHY BALL STATE: I chose Ball State due to the opportunities it presented me both academically and athletically. Also, there is family atmosphere that encompasses the campus.
