INDIANAPOLIS – Mary Jane Keller scored her first collegiate goal in the Ball State soccer team's 1-1 draw at Butler on Thursday night at the Sellick Bowl.

The Cardinals (1-0-1) got on the board to start the scoring with a shot from outside the box by Keller early in the second half. The 47^th-minute score gave the visitors a 1-0 edge but Chloe Brecht found the back of the net for the host Bulldogs (0-1-1) in the 81^st minute to tie the game.

Kaelyn Valleau and Addie Chester also put shots on goal for Ball State, who tied Butler for the second straight year after a 2-2 draw in Muncie in 2025.

Starting goalkeeper Kate Pallante made three saves including a crucial one in the final five minutes to preserve the tie for the Cardinals.

Jordyn Klaasen and Ainsley Schaufele joined Pallante as Ball State student-athletes to go the full 90 minutes. Chester took two shots in her initial appearance in her return to the team for a fifth season of collegiate action.

The hosts outshot the Cardinals 12-4 and took two more corner kicks (4-2) while Ball State committed two more fouls (8-6) on the night in front of a crowd of 545 on the Butler campus.

Next up for the Cardinals is a Sunday afternoon match at Western Kentucky.
