Nettles in Second Place in Heptathlon After Thursday Events in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- With four heptathlon events in the books at the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational at the University of Louisville, Ball State's Kenli Nettles sits in second place with three events to go. Teammate Kendra Keeling currently is in 10th place out of 15 entries.

The two Cardinals participants lead off the Ball State contingent at this week's three-day meet at Owlsby B. Frazier Cardinal Park. Heptathlon events conclude Friday with the long jump, javelin and 800-meter run.

Nettles has earned a top-four finish in each event so far: second in the 100 meters, fourth in the high jump, third in the shot put and fourth in the 200 meters. Keesling, thus far, has finished 13th, 11th, eighth and 12th in each event, with her best event being the long jump to begin Friday's events at 1:30 p.m.

Track and field events outside of the heptathlon take center stage the rest of Friday, and into a full schedule on Saturday.
