Softball Falls to Louisville in Rain-shortened Outing
March 07, 2026 | Softball
LOUISVILLE - - Ball State softball senior Ella Whitney stayed hot at the play Saturday morning, opening the scoring at Louisville with an RBI double.
Â
Unfortunately, it was the Cardinals (9-7) only hit of the game as the host Louisville Cardinals (16-5) scored eight unanswered to avenge Friday's loss with an 8-1 (5) victory.Â
Â
The game entered a rain delay with two outs in the top of the sixth, but was called due to weather, reverting to the last completed inning which was the fifth.
Â
Junior shortstop Maia Pietrzak scored Ball State's lone run after being hit by the game's first pitch. The RBI was Whitney's ninth of the weekend as she drove in five in yesterday's win over Bellarmine and three more in the 7-5 victory over Louisville.
Â
The Ball State softball team closes play in the Cardinal Classic Sunday with games versus Long Island (11:30 a.m.) and Illinois (2 p.m.)
