October 08, 2026 | Field Hockey
KENT, Ohio — The Ball State field hockey team will continue its Mid-American Conference (MAC) road stretch this week when it travels to face the Kent State Golden Flashes on Friday, Oct. 9. The conference matchup is scheduled to get underway at 1:00 p.m. ET at Murphy-Mellis Field.
Both squads enter Friday's contest hungry for a pivotal conference victory. The Cardinals are looking to spark their offense and secure a crucial road win, while Kent State returns to its home turf following an intensive overtime battle against Bellarmine.
A central narrative of Friday's game is the storied history between the two programs, which has seen overwhelming dominance from the home team. Kent State holds a commanding 24-2 advantage in the all-time series record against Ball State. The Golden Flashes are currently riding a 16-game winning streak against the Cardinals, which includes their most recent encounter on September 28, 2025, where Kent State escaped Muncie with a narrow 1-0 overtime victory.
Ball State's lone historical triumph over the Golden Flashes came on October 22, 2011, when the Cardinals secured a thrilling 4-3 victory. Since that single blemish, Kent State has successfully defended its record, including maintaining a perfect 12-0 home record against the Cardinals in Kent.
With the MAC tournament race intensifying, the Cardinals will look to disrupt history and snap Kent State's streak on Friday afternoon.
