MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team (3-1) heads to Dayton (0-2) Saturday for a 4 pm ET first serve as the Cardinals look to extend their momentum after a dominant home performance.
Ball State enters this weekend's competition on a three-match winning streak, following a perfect doubleheader sweep last Saturday where they dispatched Bellarmine (4-3) and IU East (7-0).
"The Cardinals have had a great week of practice and are prepared to compete against a very strong Dayton team this weekend," Ball State head men's tennis coach Gene Orlando said. "We will have to play our best tennis of the season thus far to earn the victory this weekend on the road because it's going to be a battle."
So far this season, senior Jacks Lancaster has been a pillar for the Cardinals, securing critical points in both singles and doubles during the current streak. Newcomer Zackary Kimelman proved his grit last weekend by clinching the decisive match point against Bellarmine in a straight-set thriller. Fellow freshmen Andrei Caragea and Jeremy Milette have also stabilized the middle of the lineup.
Dating back to 2004-05, the Cardinals have earned a 9-1 record over the Flyers with Ball State winning its last meeting over Dayton in Muncie by a score of 5-2 on Feb. 1, 2025. The Cardinals last fell to the Flyers by a 5-2 decision on Jan. 27, 2024, in Miamisburg.
