Men's Tennis Drops Road Match at Dayton Saturday

MIAMISBURG, Ohio - The Ball State men's tennis team's three-match win streak ended with a 6-1 loss at Dayton Saturday evening at the South Regency Tennis Center.

With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 2-3 on the season while the Flyers improved to 1-2 this year.

Dayton secured an early advantage by winning the doubles point with victories on the top two courts. The closest competition today in doubles was the Cardinals No. 3 twosome of Jacks Lancaster and Jenson Bicanic as the duo's score was knotted at 3-3 against Rishi Dore and Eric Suk before the competition was abandoned.Â

In singles, the Flyers took four of the six courts in straight sets. The singles competition was highlighted by a highly competitive two-set tie break from Drew Hayward. Drew Hayward took the first frame 7-6 before losing set two by a score of 6-2 to Dylan Jaen at the No. 3 position. Drew Hayward then earned the super tiebreaker 1-0 (10-2) to claim the lone victory for the Cardinals against the Flyers.Â

The Ball State men's tennis team returns home Saturday, Feb. 7 for a noon start against Cleveland State at First Serve Muncie.
