Track Team Heads Back to Indy for Crossroads of America Invitational

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State women's track and field team returns to Indianapolis this weekend for another appearance at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Following last week's Hoosier Horsepower Classic with star performances from Laya'Lapri Ratney and Malina Miller, the Cardinals take part in the Crossroads of America Invitational with a slightly larger and more prominent field.

Last week's meet featured several schools from the Mid-American Conference. At this week's event, in addition to MAC schools Ball State and Miami, power programs include Indiana, Purdue, Kentucky and Louisville. Others participating this week include Butler, IU Indy, Indiana State, Dayton, Purdue-Fort Wayne, IU-Kokomo, Marian, Belmont, Alabama-Huntsville, St. Norbert and Western Kentucky.

Ratney captured the 60m hurdles event last week, and competes again this week in the 60m dash among seven different Cardinals sprinters. Similarly, the Cardinals have eight athletes entered in the 200m dash. Miller placed fifth in the invite division of the high jump last week. She and senior transfer Bella Jackson both will compete in the invite division again this week.
