Men's S&D Battles IU Indy for Senior Day

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State men's swimming and diving program is back in action Jan. 23 inside the Lewllen Aquatic Center, alongside the women's team, as they host IU Indy for Senior Day. Events are slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. ET.
Prior to the meet, the men's seniors set to be recognized are Logan Ayres, Porter Brovont, Benjamin Clarkston, Max Kruglov, Kenny Reed, Jacob Siewers and Mason Young.
The Cardinals saw its first blemish in dual competition last week, falling to conference rival Miami (OH) 163.5-135.5 on Jan. 16. The men captured six event wins and 19 top three finishes, led by junior Zach Shaddy, who earned his first two wins of the season after taking the 1-Meter (316.70) and 3-Meter (321.15). Freshman George Patterson earned his team-leading fifth event win of the season, placing first in the 200 freestyle (1:39.81). Also earning wins that afternoon was Aidan Biddle in the 100 Breaststroke (56.22), William Raches in the 100 Backstroke (51.69), and Malcolm Slater in the 500 freestyle (4:37.31).
Ball State and IU Indy met on Nov. 8 last season, with the Jaguars coming out on top 235-64 at the IU Natatorium. Siewers was the Cardinals' top scorer, anchoring the second-place 200 medley relay, while placing second in both the 100 and 200 freestyles. Biddle and Slater also had second place finishes, with Biddle earning runner-up in the 100 breaststroke while Slater took second in the 500 freestyle. Brovont led the men's team on the diving boards, placing third on both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter.
IU Indy comes into Friday's meet 14-0 on the season, most recently getting the better of Youngtown State 184-97 on Jan. 9 and 189-91 on Jan. 10. Ball State leads the overall series against the Jaguars 9-7, including a 2-0 mark at home.
