September 14, 2025 | Women's Tennis
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Ball State women's tennis team completed its first fall tournament this past weekend in Memphis where the Cardinals took on Arkansas State, Memphis and Middle Tennessee State.

"I am very proud of our Cardinals on their competitiveness and how they continued to improve throughout the weekend," Ball State head women's tennis coach Sachin Kirtane said. "We have a lot of new faces on the court this season and it was the first time many players on our team had ever played collegiate tennis. I look forward to competing again next weekend at Xavier."

The Cardinals entered the weekend with four returnees, one transfer and four true freshmen. Freshman Noa Kosman earned her first collegiate singles match victory on Friday over Arkansas State. Kosman beat Karen Yibirin, 6-3, 6-2.

On Saturday, Ball State took on host Memphis which saw newcomer Priyanka Rana take a three-set thriller, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 over the Tigers' Clemence Thouard.

Ball State finally got in a groove Sunday showing massive improvement in singles play as the Cardinals took four of the six singles matches from Middle Tennessee State.

Jemima Williams-Phillips took down Sze Xuan Lim in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1 while Anya Tkachyk captured a two-set tiebreaker victory versus Rutuja Chaphalkar. Priyanka Rana breezed through her match in two frames with her 6-0, 7-5 take down Lena Peyer. Kosman rounded out the singles wins after defeating Cara Szilasi, 7-6, 6-1.

The Ball State women's tennis team continues fall action when it travels to the Xavier Invite beginning Saturday, Sept. 20 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
