September 12, 2025 | Field Hockey
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team (1-5) dropped a 3-1 loss to Saint Francis University (3-2) Friday afternoon at the Briner Sports Complex.
After a highly competitive first period, which both squads were able to defensively stop each other from scoring, SFU answered in the second 15 minutes of action with three goals to take a 3-0 edge over Ball State heading into intermission.
After the break, Ball State made a change in the cage replacing starting goalkeeper Cali Hyman with Carleigh Hofelich. Hofelich managed to protect the net for the Cardinals the remainder of the contest, facing 12 shots and earning nine saves.
The third frame also saw Maddie Summitt score the lone goal for BSU which was assisted by her teammate, Reagan Kunkle. Unfortunately, Ball State struggled offensively the remainder of the contest and could not make a second half comeback.
The Ball State field hockey team continues action at home when it hosts Lock Haven on Sunday at 11 am ET in the Briner Sports Complex.
