August 21, 2025 | Soccer
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Ball State soccer team put some late pressure on the Indiana defense but the host Hoosiers pulled out a 1-0 win on Thursday at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
The Cardinals (0-2) had shots on goal credited to Delaney Caldwell and Grier Isaacson in the final 12 minutes of the road opener, but couldn't draw even after Indiana (2-0) scored the lone goal of the match in the 62nd minute.
Graduate goalkeeper Abby Jenkins made a pair of saves and didn't allow a goal in the first half to go into halftime scoreless.
Senior Grace Konopatzki made her regular season debut and collected two saves as the second half goalkeeper for Ball State.
Caldwell took three shots, while Fiona Kilian had two attempts at goal for the visitors. Defenders Delaney Ahearn, Grier Isaacson and Jordyn Klaasen went the full 90 minutes in the second match of the regular season for the Cardinals.
Indiana was credited with more shots (13-8) and corner kicks (5-2) on the night, with Ball State goalies making twice as many saves (4-2).
The Cardinals next head to Charleston, Ill., to face Eastern Illinois at 2 p.m. ET (1 CT) on Sunday.
