Khan Finishes Sixth at PGA Works Collegiate Championship
May 07, 2025 | Men's Golf
KOHLER, Wisc. -- Ali Khan battled 20 mile-per-hour winds on the shores of Lake Michigan, Wednesday, to shoot 78 in the final round of the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship at Whistling Straits Golf Club. Playing in what is regarded as the most culturally significant event in collegiate golf, Khan finished sixth out of 24 top minority golfers nationally, who were invited to compete in the exclusive PGA event.
Invited to the PGA WORKS event for the second time in four seasons, Khan (72-70-78--220) sat in sixth place with a par-72 in the opening round on the Straits Course. Tuesday, on the adjacent Irish Course, he fired a 2-under par 70 to move into fifth place.
Wednesday, in what was the 130th and final round of his career at Ball State, he birdied the No. 2 hole, but absorbed a bogey on No. 6 and then double-bogey on No. 7 to slip back to par overall. In true All-Khan-fashion however, he steadied himself and shot par over seven consecutive holes to stay among the leaders.Â
Final round scores were higher throughout the field Wednesday, including champion Egor Zubov of Delaware who carded -5 in each of the first two rounds, but was +4 on the final 18 holes. Khan was +6 in the final round, to finish +4 overall.

"What an incredible few days spent with Ali here at Whistling Straights," said a proud Mike Fleck, Ball State's longtime coach. "Per usual, Ali competed up to the last putt and represented himself and Ball State University with class and pride."
Khan's career closes after being named one of Ball State's Top 50 students during his junior year, and being a part of three consecutive Ball State teams to finish first or second in the Mid-American Conference. After finishing second in the PGA WORKS event in Pennsylvania in 2022, he helped the Cardinals reached the National Golf Invitational following the MAC Championships in 2023 and the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional last year in 2024. With this week's PGA WORKS event in Wisconsin, Khan completes a four-year string of postseason golf invitations."His career was transformational," added Fleck, "and I'm so proud of what he accomplished while playing for us. I'm excited to follow his professional career and continue to support him in any way we can."
