Dylan Grego (Brooks Wallace Award) and Keegan Johnson (National Pitcher of the Year) have been named to watch lists for national awards by the College Baseball Foundation, the organization announced Friday afternoon.
Grego is 1 of 100 shortstops on the watch list for the Brooks Wallace Award honoring the nation's top college shortstop. The junior from Kansas City, Mo., entered the weekend as the Mid-American Conference leader in hits, beginning Friday with 58 including 10 doubles, one triple and nine home runs along with 34 RBI, 36 runs scored, a .367 batting average and 10 stolen bases.
Ball State baseball alumnus Michael Hallquist was among five finalists for the 2024 Brooks Wallace Award.
Johnson is 1 of 54 on the National Pitcher of the Year list a season after being named the MAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-MAC. The sophomore lefthander has posted a 6-1 record with 56 strikeouts and a 3.54 ERA in 53.1 innings across 10 starts to begin his second collegiate campaign.
Both student-athletes have received a weekly recognition by the conference office this year, as Johnson was named the MAC Pitcher of the Week on March 10, and Grego was named the MAC Co-Player of the Week on March 31.
