Grego Named MAC Co-Player of the Week
March 31, 2025 | Baseball
Dylan Grego has been named the Mid-American Conference Co-Player of the Week, the MAC office announced Monday afternoon.
Grego went 8-for-15 with a .533/.588/1.267 slash line on the week including two doubles, three home runs, 10 RBI and four runs scored. The junior did all of his damage at the plate in conference play, having multiple hits, including a home run, and 3+ RBI in each game of a series at Akron over the weekend.
The Kansas City, Mo., native went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer, four RBI and two runs scored in Ball State's 11-2 win over the Zips in Friday's series opener. Grego followed that up with another 3-for-4 effort including a double, home run and three RBI in Saturday's 5-2 win, which featured an RBI double in the first inning for the day's initial offense and a two-run blast in the sixth inning to give the Cardinals a 4-0 lead. The everyday shortstop added a double, a homer and three more runs batted in for the nightcap of Saturday's twinbill.
Overall, Grego went 8-for-12 with two doubles, three homers, 10 RBI and four runs scored in just two days to lead Ball State to its third straight MAC series triumph to begin the year.
Grego bettered his season batting average to .381 and OPS to 1.098 with the performances. The third-year Cardinal paces the team in average, hits (43), runs (27), doubles (eight) and total bases (74).
The hits total leads the MAC by two entering the week of play.
This is Ball State's second weekly honor from the conference office this year and the first of Grego's career.
The Cardinals are set to host Bellarmine at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
