Jenelle Rogers Caps Career with Fourth All-America Performance
March 14, 2025 | Track & Field
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Already a highly decorated student-athlete with three All-America honors and three performances in NCAA indoor and outdoor championship events, Jenelle Rogers capped her Ball State track career Friday by reaching the podium again in the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships, conducted at the Virginia Beach Sports Center. She earned the fourth All-America honor of her career, joining Charity Griffith (5, 2022-23) and LaTasha Jenkins (5, 1998-99) as the only four-time All-Americans in program history.
"It was exciting to see Jenelle compete at her final NCAA Championships," said Ball State track coach Adrian Wheatley. "She's had a phenomenal career of competing at the highest level, and it's a huge accomplishment to walk away with All-American honors.
After watching his star senior place in the top seven for the fourth straight season in NCAA competition, he continued, "She has always represented our program and conference with class, and her contributions and leadership will be missed. I'm proud to have had the chance to work with her and am excited to see what she does next on the track, in the field, and beyond."
Rogers finished first in the field of 16 pentathlon competitors with a season-best performance in the shot put, and she closed the day with a season-best effort in the 800 meters. She began the competition in ninth place after the 60-meter hurdles, but after top 10 finishes in each of the first four events, she climbed in the standings from ninth, to seventh, to third, and into second place after the long jump.
Though she struggled in the 800 meters earlier in the year, Rogers shaved nearly eight seconds off her best time of the winter season during the day's final event. Her final race produced a seventh-place finish behind athletes from only Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Iowa and Harvard. Her season-best pentathlon score of 4,265 points earned her place on the NCAA podium for the fourth time in the past two years.
One of Ball State's most outstanding student-athletes on the track and off -- she is a 3.95 student in interior design -- Rogers has excelled as one of the Cardinals' most decorated athletes the past two years. She earned her first All-America recognition while finishing fifth in the heptathlon at the NCAA outdoor championships in 2023. She finished second in the pentathlon at last year's indoor championships, and she finished fourth in the decathlon in the 2024 NCAA outdoor event in Eugene, Oregon.
Competing alongside sister and teammate Jennah, her college eligibility is exhausted following the winter track season.
