Johnson Named MAC Pitcher of the Week

Third Career Weekly Honor for the Sophomore

Keegan Johnson has been named the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week, the MAC office announced Monday afternoon.

Johnson struck out eight in 7.1 innings of work and didn't allow a run until the eighth inning of Ball State's 3-1 win over Western Michigan on Friday. The sophomore left-handed pitcher improved his record to 3-0 and lowered his ERA to 2.92 with the performance.

Johnson has struck out 25 in 24.2 frames this season after being named the MAC Preseason Pitcher of the Year by D1Baseball. He was the 2024 MAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year by posting an 8-3 record with 83 strikeouts in 65.1 innings pitched in 16 games (15 starts) as a true freshman.

This is Ball State's first weekly honor from the conference office this year and the third of Johnson's career.

The Cardinals are riding a five-game winning streak into a 3 p.m. Tuesday game with Purdue Fort Wayne at Shebek Stadium.
