Ball State Baseball Diamond Formally Renamed Shebek Stadium
February 28, 2025 | Baseball
MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State baseball stadium has formally been renamed Shebek Stadium, as announced today following a meeting of the Ball State University Board of Trustees.
The University has honored longtime benefactors and Ball State graduates Michael and Katherine Shebek in recognition of the family's $5 million gift that will further enhance the stadium venue that received a new, state-of-the-art videoboard in 2024, along with outfield signage and stadium padding that surrounds the field's perimeter.
Located within the baseball and softball stadium complex north of the campus, Shebek Stadium will eventually feature a state-of-the-art clubhouse including a locker room, nutrition space and meeting area, made possible by the Shebek's gift. Mike and Katherine share a passion for sports, and Mike, an Indianapolis businessman, was a standout pitcher for the Cardinals. He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 1987.
After hosting a February home opening game for the first time in program history this week, Ball State will return to Shebek Stadium to open Mid-American Conference play on Friday, March 7 against Western Michigan.Â
