Softball's Hayley Urban Named MAC Player of the Week

CLEVELAND - - For her stellar play at the Charlotte Invitational, Ball State softball redshirt junior center fielder Hayley Urban has been named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week.

Urban put together one of the best weekends of her collegiate career at the three-day tournament, leading the Ball State offense with a .636 batting average and a 1.545 slugging percentage. Her play, which included seven hits and the first three home runs of her career, helped the Cardinals go 4-1 in the event and improve to 7-2 on the year.

Urban reached base safely in all five games and drove in five total RBI. She also ranked second on the squad with seven runs scored, while drawing one walk and being hit by a pitch once for a team-best .692 on base percentage in the tournament.

With the solid weekend, Urban currently leads all MAC players in slugging percentage (1.059) and OPS (1.609), while ranking second in both batting average (.471) and home runs (3).

Urban and the rest of the Ball State softball team return to action Friday when they open play at the MTSU Invitational with games versus host Middle Tennessee (Noon ET / 11 a.m. CT) and Illinois State (5 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. CT).
