February 11, 2025 | Soccer
MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State soccer head coach Josh Rife has been named the next head coach of the Indiana University women's soccer program. Rife, who spent six seasons coaching the Cardinals, is an alumnus of Indiana who played on 2000 and 2001 teams that reached the Final Four.
Rife compiled a 49-38-17 record in his time on the sidelines at Ball State, including a 33-18-13 record in Mid-American Conference play. He led the 2019 team that tied for the most wins (15) and the second-most conference wins (nine) in program history.
"Congratulations to coach Josh Rife! I am grateful to Josh and his numerous contributions to the Ball State women's soccer program," said Director of Athletics Jeff Mitchell. "I wish him well, and I look forward to hiring the next head coach to lead our talented women's soccer student-athletes."
"I want to thank Jeff Mitchell, President Mearns and Emma Kumar for their support of not just the women's soccer program, but of me and my family," added Rife, who helped the Hoosiers to a 2001 Big Ten title under legendary coach Jerry Yeagley. "Ball State is an amazing place and I leave with a full heart because of the people who have been so welcoming. I am confident that Ball State's leadership will find a great fit to not just continue our success, but elevate the program."
